Before deep-diving, perform this 30-second reset:

: Remove the USB drive once the main screen is visible; the error message should no longer appear. Software & Connection Fixes

: If a "COM Key" is set on the device, the same key must be entered into the software settings. A mismatch here will result in an immediate connection failure. 3. Software and Firmware Fixes

ZKTeco has announced that recent system issues were resolved by significant firmware updates. Check your current firmware version via the device menu.

For models like SpeedFace or MultiBio:

ZKTeco devices include tamper switches designed to trigger an alarm when someone attempts to remove the device from its mounting plate. If the device and back plate are not securely connected, the tamper switch activates and keeps the alarm ringing, potentially interfering with normal authentication operations. To resolve this, ensure the device is securely fastened to its back plate and properly reinstalled if necessary.

: Authentication often fails if communication ports are misconfigured in the software. Verify that SSH (default 3718) and Telnet (default 23) ports are correctly set in the app.config file within the device directory.

If a specific user continuously fails to authenticate despite having a clean profile, their local template might be corrupted. Open your ZKTeco management software on your PC. Navigate to the or Personnel module. Select the affected employee profile.
